About Me

I am a Board Certified Ophthalmologist excited to be practicing at Evergreen Eye. Prior to joining Evergreen, I spent 20+ years serving in the US Army and two years with Kaiser Permanente. During this time I travelled the world caring for patients and led wonderful teams. I spent three years as the ophthalmology residency program director at Madigan during which time I had the privilege of teaching and mentoring amazing ophthalmology residents and medical students. Now that I am retired from the military, I love spending time coaching my colleagues and helping high performers achieve success in medicine.

I give back through Global Cataract Surgery Missions, providing surgery to those without regular access to care.

I enjoy all the Northwest has to offer by getting outside to hike and kayak with my family.

Macular Degeneration & Diabetes

Macular Degeneration & Diabetes are common retinal conditions that can cause blindness. These diseases can cause dark spots in your vision or distortion. It is very important to start treating early. Treatment includes close monitoring at home with an Amsler grid, regular clinic exams and scans, and for some, injections of Anti-VEGF medication.

Cataract Surgery

If you are experiencing glare, difficulty seeing even with your glasses on or a decrease in vision, you may have cataracts. Cataract surgery is a safe and quick surgery that can give you your vision and freedom back. I will help you find the best lens choice for your goals, including premium and insurance covered options. I specialize in premium lenses including LAL (Light Adjustable Lenses), multifocal, EDOF and TORIC IOLS and MIGS procedures for patients with glaucoma. I also offer RLE - which is basically cataract surgery before you develop a cataract.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma can be a slowly progressing disease which leads to vision loss. It is an exciting time for glaucoma care with many new treatments available and in development. You will get a comprehensive evaluation. We will discuss eye drops, laser, and surgical treatments for glaucoma including, SLT, MIGS and tubes.
